It just so happens that I will be graduating in less than two weeks. There's a perfect quote that can describe how I'm feeling right this moment. "I am both happy and sad at the same time, and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be" (Stephen Chbosky). I have a mix of emotions about my impending graduation date. I'm currently sitting in my office at school, trying not to stress out. I'm at that point where I'm ready to graduate and take on the real world and wanting another month of school to finish everything I need to get done.
I was just asked what songs we should play as the intro and exit song for the Greek Graduation ceremony tomorrow evening. I thought about it for a moment. Songs like The Graduation Song (Friends Forever) was the first one to come to mind. That song makes me laugh because it literally has the same chords as Pachelbel's Canon in D. My music history professor showed us a video related to that. it basically talks about how a lot of popular songs uses the same chord progression as Pachelbel's Canon in D - it's a pretty funny video.
Check it out here.
Back to the subject matter at hand. I have a clock counting down the days till graduation and at this very moment, I have 15 days, 18 hours, 21 minutes and counting. As scary as facing "the real world" may be, I'm looking forward to having more time to dedicate to my career. School got in the way of my work this past semester. My boss even asked me when my graduation date was. I was told to always finish school first before jumping into a work opportunity. So that's what I did. And now I'm 15 days away from working my ass off towards my dream of being an on air personality. As long as I'm working with music and radio, I'm happy.
Cheers to the Class of 2017. We're almost near the finish line.
